Born in
China, in December 1941, Ms. Susana Chou obtained her bachelor's degree
of Science in Electronic Physics at the University of Anhui, China and
completed a programme in French Language and Literature in Paris,
France.
In 1976, Ms. Chou was successfully elected to the 1st Legislative
Assembly of Macao by direct election. She was a member for the 3rd,
4th, 5th and 6th Legislative Assembly of Macao from 1984 to 1999, as
well as a member of its Standing Committee and Committee for Statutes
and Terms of the 5th and 6th Legislative Assembly.
In 1999, Ms. Chou was elected President of the 1st Legislative Assembly
of the Macao Special Administrative Region. She had been a member of
the 8th and 9th Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference
(CPPCC), a member of the Drafting Committee of the Basic Law of the
Macao Special Administrative Region, Vice-President of the Basic Law
Promotion Association, Vice-President of the Preparatory Committee of
the MSAR, member of the Economic Advisory Board of the Macao
Government, President of the Board of Directors of World Trade Centre
Macao, and the Honorary Consul of France in Macao.
