Mike was with the South African Foreign Trade Organisation (SAFTO) when they first met. Both became great champions of developing business cooperation between Russia and South Africa.

Working closely together in early 90-s they pioneered first exchanges of high level missions and laid foundation for the cooperation accords between the Russian Chamber of Commerce and South African major Business Organisations.
