In India Vam worked as a technical translator in the Team of Russian specialists at the Bhilai Steel Plant, near the town of Raipur.

First it was the Open-Hearth Shop and then the Ore Supplies Department what took him on frequent visits to remote Indian mines and quarries.

It was in those days when Vam developed his first  understanding and respect to the mining Profession and the Miners' Community.
